Teaching CPR to Kids: Fun Songs to Help Keep the Beat

My 10 year old had first aid classes at her school 2 weeks ago she now practices on her teddies. My 13 year old is apart of the army cadets and he came back from a weekend away training for his first aid. He is now a qualified junior first aider and I'm so proud of him. My 15 year old also did first aid at school and I think it's important all kids and adults learn it. xx

❤️ I run @kimmy12 classes and Baby Shark is one I use to teach children (and adults!) the correct speed of CPR compressions as they all know the song from toys to teens! It’s 115bpm so well in the range. x

I struggled to do cpr ie the stanima/endurance plus the little strength needed
The emotional and ptsd is another
When you call 999 they clearly talk you through it including when it cracks and you lose your head completely they drag you back

@iza that means you had done it very well. Hope you have been okay since. I also have PTSD. It's a tough thing to do. If you know how to do CPR and you start as soon as possible, it's best. Whilst waiting for 999, they can catch up with where you have progressed to & give you the reassurances that you need and use calming techniques. 💗

@foxyroxy it was my mum 65 yrs young unfortunate (april) she had been gone befor I found her
It looks like she had a heart attack
While burying my mum (may) my partner whos only 38 had a heart attack to (he has had a triple bypass)
But stupid things like my kids eating a blue lolly and there lips going a little blue set me off to the point of a panic attack I can't settle till its gone
Blue lollys now banned in our house

I'm so sorry to read this. What hard, traumatic times youve been through! I hope you have had some help and support to help. So many things are triggering. I found rewind therapy to help the best with my sons traumatic accident & recovery. Sending you hugs 💗

@iza I have to agree literally nothing prepares you for CPR, (physically or mentally) the training is brief, but doesn’t go into the turmoil and after effects. I hope you’re ok. ❤️

I do, for kids and adults.
I was taught it when my eldest stopped breathing when he was 17 days old.
My kids are too young, but when they're a bit older I'll teach them

My eldest (11) did a first aid course pre-covid but I am struggling to find much available now - all the children's ones seem to be for private groups or parties rather than "book -on" courses. They have done some with scouts and some online (green box first aid have some good lessons for children: https://youtube.com/@greenboxfirstaidtraining2996) but I would like them to do more.

Baby shark is another one to get the right "tempo" for tge compressions
My daughter knows how to do it and the recovery position etc
