How to Begin Decluttering Your Home: Tips for Keeping Things Organized

Funny you're posting this. The other week I was searching online to see if anyone could come and help me around my house. There are sites which give advice (paid and free). I'd just rather get the physical help. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Don't look at it as a whole. Do a section at a time, choose a drawer and start there. Empty and only put back what you use and bag up the rest. Praise your self and perhaps do the next drawer. Think of it in 20min time sections, do 20 mins and have a cuppa or a walk round the garden as a reward.

I have a rule, if I haven’t used it in a year I get rid. Start with one cupboard a day/week and then go from there. Once the cupboards are done there’s more space to put things you sort from the house. Good luck!

We hired a skip and then another skip lol. I set myself targets of one draw at a time. I then put what I want to keep back in and do another one and then when that section is done I look at all the drawers and rearrange them. I then usually end up with a couple of empty drawers. It is such a hard job but so satisfying .

I love a good de-clutter. Stick on some feel good music and tackle one room at a time.
Get a bin pile for anything broken, charity shop pile (and I always have a separate pile of things I think friends kids can make use of) and sell pile.
One simple rule in our house, if you don’t use it loose it.
It’s OK to have 10 of something if you use them but can’t have 1 of something that hasn’t been used ever or in a year*
*exception for seasonal items/toys/clothes
After the initial de-clutter I keep one callax box in my airing cupboard where we put things as and when the kids decide they don’t want/need/have outgrown it and once the box is full we wort through sell/donate/pass on
I have come across a fb group called Organised Mum Method and helps people keep on top of it all

I need to do the same!! Had a big wardrobe clear out a few weeks back, 4 bags went to the charity shop.
I've asked to join the group above for some tips

You can pay for Dilly or one of her team to come and do it for you. I follow her on instagram and she often does monthly challenges and gives you tips for decluttering.
I regularly pick a room or cupboard and clear it. We don’t have a loft or garage so nowhere to hide it!

@theanimal I also follow Dilly and she can be great.
@blssdslj I am about to try my own ‘sort your life out’ version as the weather improves. Over the Easter weekend, fingers crossed, one room will be boxed up and taken out to the garden and spread out then decluttered the way they do it. Then pack it all back. Starting with my daughters bedroom. Then again, weather dependant, each weekend will be another room. Hope this helps.

@goodgriefok my concern with this is probably the amount of things that I have duplicates of in every room 😂. I think it's knowing where to put things but I'm going to give it a try.
