How to Begin Decluttering Your Home: Tips for Keeping Things Organized

@theanimal it does, although I have been guilty of running out of time thinking I’ll just put it on the floor so that’s why I am going to try the patio first lol and then it can’t just be ‘put to the floor’ to deal with the next day 😂

@blssdslj I get that, yes I need to make proper homes for everything. Luckily, I have a boy and girl so I know I don’t have duplicates as such there. Hope you get it all sorted though. Wish sort your life out was bookable at reasonable costs lol. They would be inundated.

I wrote a book about it; I was also featured alongside her in this months Your Home Style with tips. Click on the link in my bio and go to press for more free tips in lots of mags and newspapers

You are not alone....I'm in the same position, I'm a horder too.... form attachments to things .... I'm going through one room at a time ... starting to feel better now too 🙂

If you can afford it put 100 pounds in an envelope, Incase you ever need to replace anything that you get rid of and then go for it , so far I have not needed to .

I'm in the same position as you! It's a hard hard task, but completely satisfying once it's done, and it makes you feel so much less stressed..
I've got two weeks off work now ( I work as an LSA in a school), so I'm excited to get cracking on. I've already cleared under my ottoman bed and chucked or donated 6 bin bags already.
My problem is the reason I take so long is because I find things I've not seen in ages, have a little fashion show, think ill save them another few years incase they come back into fashion, have a sing, put a hat on, try on the make up that I thought I'd lost, read old notes etc.. it's literally like Christmas 🤣🤣🤣..it just takes me a bit longer than it could, because I fart arse about. I know though that once it's done, I feel much better and happier.
I do one room at a time, and one drawer/cupboard.
Good luck! Xx

Be ruthless!! Broken? Bin it! Don't use it? Sell it or give it away (there should be local buy-sell-swap and free gifting pages for your area as well as Marketplace) I recently had a new kitchen fitted, so I had a massive clear out. Now I have lots of cupboard space so to keep it organised and un-cluttered I've dedicated one cupboard for the counter top things we only use occasionally! Not only does it look amazing, but it's also easier to clean without having to move everything all the time 😊

Remember behind the perfect shot, the rest of the house is a shit show! ...that's what I tell myself anyway 🤣. I hate getting rid of stuff if there's actually nothing wrong with, sometimes I ask someone else to do it for me, makes it easier!

I always have a charity bag on the go.
I've read a good tip is to start in one corner and do that corner. If you pick something up don't put it down unless it's where it should be or in the bin or charity bag!
The worst thing we have is a huge bag of leads for things I'm sure have been long gone!

With my wardrobe I turn the hangers around when I’ve worn the top/Jumper then if I didn’t wear it 6 months later I’ll get rid of it. I separate summer/winter clothes aswell x
