No words of advice or wisdom, he sees the world differently and that's OK, shame on those who are talking about him, sadly there isn't enough awareness around ADHD.
From one Mum to another, sending love
I have ADHD myself as well as having ADHD kids, I wasn't diagnosed until 23. Best advice I can give is learn to not give a shit because unfortunately the world is cruel to neurodivergent people. I'm sorry this is happening
@taylorgrace thank you! Yes, I really need to learn how to do this but when people are talking about my son in an ill manner, I don't like it! I will learn how to do this
@zickzackduck yeah I get it, I've snapped at people for being nasty about my son as well. 3 of my 4 have adhd and the youngest is a baby so may well have it we don't know yet, I've had people say all sorts. Its ignorance and we shouldn't have to deal with it xx
@taylorgrace I take my hat off to you but it sounds like you know what you're doing and have done your research on how to deal with it. Stay strong, you're doing amazing xx
I haven’t been diagnosed with ADHD and usually say what’s on my mind, I would also give someone my last penny and would do anything for anyone. You either love me or hate me. I have a good circle of friends who take the rough with the smooth. Keep your chin up. You sound like an amazing parent, things will turn out good xx
@kimbrown thank you! He's the same but people don't give him the chance. I really appreciate you commenting. I try my best to be the best mum I can be. Thank you xx
I found reading ADHD 2.0 (written by someone with ADHD who helps those with ADHD) to be really, really helpful. My son loved the description of “Ferrari engine, bicycle brakes” to describe the ADHD brain and it helped his self-esteem (he’s only 8 but I loved sharing some of the stuff with him). The book is honest, very engaging, very encouraging, but doesn’t shy away from the difficulties. It also gives a list of the medications, non-medical ways to help focus (including developing the cerebellum) and all the amazing strengths and contradictions that come with ADHD. I found it helpful pre-diagnosis so I hope it’s ok to recommend it. X

All I can say is he is the way he is and the people that matter will embrace him and accept him.... anyone else can bore off. Both my children have autism and one has adhd as well and they both speak their mind and say shit how it is and I will never apologise for how my kids r.... yes its hard work but by god r they funny fantastic little humans and thats how I will always make them feel.... just focus on your boy.... it sounds like u r raising fantastic humans too ❤
@new_life most counties won’t diagnose Aspergers anymore. It’s high or low functioning or now some use numbers.
My son has Aspergers (diagnosed HF ASD but consultant said it’s Aspergers) his main struggle is with social situations. It’s hard to watch sometimes how he struggles and the judgement from others
@ahecticusername this must be so hard to watch too. My son is definitely not socially awkward and thrives in public situations but I worry more about the things being said to people. The filter is the problem most of the time xx
Ros Brown my area don’t and won’t allow you to use high or low functioning in paper work now ( my son is 16 and is non verbal autistic and was class under low functioning but since that’s now removed and he is just “pre verbal “ also. Can’t say non verbal on paperwork here
