Batch Cooking for School Lunches: How Prepping in Advance Makes Mornings a Breeze

Make a sandwich/wrap/roll chuck in her lunch bag done because night before she has put in all the other individually wrapped bits she wants shops are brilliant for individually portioned cheeses, crackers, crisps, cakes and biscuits even fruit and salad veggies comes portioned for 1 in its own little bag all chopped up for you 🤔 no faffing about

@nonbeleiver09 sounds convenient. But also expensive.
We all have our own ways, all equally valid. Sound like this way works great for you.
Batch making and freezing works for the OP.
Me personally, I used to do night before but it sometimes resulted in soggy sarnies and biscuits. Now, it takes me about ten mins in the morning whilst the kids wake up to put stuff in each lunchbox. I love the systema cube lunchbox myself, because it helps me portion out well and makes it quick to load the boxes
I but fruit and cut it up, cheese I cube or slice from the block. Crackers I buy in big packet and put a few in each box. Crisps I often buy a share bag and put in the crisps section of the box. 3 share bags can last a week for 4 of us eating each day. If I don't have a sweet snack, it takes 25 mins in total to bake a small batch of cupcakes in the morning and have done this many times.
But sometimes I do buy the prepackaged stuff too for cakes and snacks. Depends on my budget and time available to me.
I doa

@jonesbikash I know batch making and freezing works for the OP she said so in her post but she did ask what other do to avoid the mad morning rush and I replied what works for me I wasn't expecting anyone to change to how I do it and I won't be changing to how others do it.
I really don't understand why you replied to my comment 🤷🏼‍♀️. But thanks anyway

@mylynn thats how I read it! Personally I'd rather spend 5 minutes making fresh than waste a weekend and eat month old frozen sandwiches but each to their own 😂

First ever morning school run for me tomorrow and I am not prepared 🤣 I plan to put uniform on the end of the bed and hope for the best 🤣

Firstly everyone saying buy it all from the shop and don't freeze sandwiches ect
1. The point is she's saving money maybe she can't afford to just pop to the shop each day for fresh quiches things are dearer now
2. Supermarkets bulk buy they're bread products including sandwiches and freeze them till they go out on the shelves so when your eating anything 'fresh' from a shop ie bread sandwiches ect they've probably been frozen in storage.
3. This is what she chosen to do as it works for her family if it's not right for you that's OK but don't all attack her for her way of doing things if the kids don't mind and it makes thi gs easier and cheaper for her then great

@chimoshi it was the same a few days ago when somebody made a post about how she has a 5 drawer unit that she puts her children's school uniform into so that everything they need for each day is ready and there is no faffing about in the morning. People were having a right pop at her, calling her lazy, saying she should hang it on a coat hanger instead, etc, etc. If certain ways of doing things work for that particular family then everyone else needs to keep their noses out x

@kelligagnon they do I didn't see that post but calling parents lazy is not really fair the things most parents do in one day plus they've just had 6 weeks of extra stuff ontop with the holidays if they want to do things that make life easier than good for them judging should stop and people should start coming together in support parenting can be the hardest most intense job it makes me angry when I ser people having a dig when someone is clearly trying to just make life easier

I always make the lunches the night before as this gives me time to chat with the kids in the morning whilst they’re having their breakfast and I get a coffee!
This year my eldest goes into year 2, and my youngest into reception, so it’s the last year for my year 2 to get the Universal Free school meals; I decided because of that that I would have a year of hot dinners for them so that’ll save even more time as it’s the only year they’ll both qualify for hot dinners at the same time 🤣🤣
I set each uniform out onto one hanger - T-shirt, jumper, dress/skirt, knickers and socks so that they head straight for their uniform without having to search through their wardrobes - they’ll only end up pulling random clothing out and making a mess otherwise 🥴

normally do everything the night before…however still have the get your shoes on shouting and haven’t managed to stop the….’I need a poo!’… just as we are walking out the door to go to school 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

On Sundays I always cook a roast dinner or similar. Whilst I'm doing that I chop up veggies and fruit ready for the week's pack ups. I also often bake biscuits and/or cakes for treats (I love baking and the kids love homemade stuff, not shaming prebought snacks at all!!) I also batch cook any meals that reheat easily: bolognaise, curry, chilli, pulled pork, even rice and mash. I work most evenings so when I don't have a lot of time to do tea (or hubby's in charge) it saves on cooking time without constantly having to resort to freezer food (again no shame we do still have it, it just gives us options). Kids are old enough to sort their own breakfasts and will pack their lunches as well if we're on go slow in the mornings. And lastly, something that won't be possible for everyone but the kids leave at slightly different times which is an absolute godsend for the getting ready chaos of actually leaving the house!! 😁 xx

My Mum froze ours when we were little! I however chuck everything in a lunch box at 7.30am while doing 3 other jobs at the same time, then forget to do mine 🤪😂

@amanda10271 me too!! My youngest is Autistic and has some food issues. He will only have a jam sandwich, no butter, crisps, mini cheddars and two cheddar cheese portions for his packed lunch. Can’t Pre make and freeze a jam sandwich unfortunately!
