Advice on Belly Button Piercing for My Daughter: Healing, Care, and Scarring Concerns

Had mine done in my 20s, two pregnancies ( when I put longer bars in or took it out) and no issues. I'm 56 now and I don't even think about it. No issues, no rubbing. Just get it done at properly.

Eh, belly button hurts a lot, I've had my tongue, eyebrow, nose, nipple and lips pierced and my belly button hurt the most weirdly 😂
However, aside from catching it in belts now and again, it's not a massive issue

Ye had mine done twice top and bottom in my teens had no issues until second pregnancy where no rubber long bars were not helping at which point I took them out and yes I do still now 15 years on from taking them out have small scars but no probs keeping clean or healing

I pierced my own when I was 15. I had to take it out when I was pregnant at 30 and never put it back in. Was left with a small scar but I had to have hernia surgery so they just used that as the incision point and you can’t even see it.

I had my belly button pierced at 15 less than a year later it literally dropped out I was since then told,by an incredibly talented piercer, its quite common if your skin doesn't have enough elasticity in the area. I have about an inch long scar from it and where the skin pulled so much
Also belly button hurt abut 10 times more than my tongue piercing

@cheeky81 that's interesting about your pain perception. I had mine done and didn't even realise she'd done it. I've not got my tongue done though due to a tongue tie. But even then I'm not sure I'd want it done it's never interested me

I had other piercings and was older before I had my naval pierced. It did hurt and took a while to heal I definitely think she has to be mature enough to do the after care herself. Never caused me any problems but I did decide myself to take it out as I've got older, closed up very quickly x

My daughter is 14 she asked for it to be done, I explained the pro and cons but she wanted it done, she is responsible for the upkeep of them but I do check them. So far so good x

I've had mine done for over 20 years and not had a problem, can't say it rubbed my jeans or any other clothing it does catch at first but you get used to it being there you forget about it x

If you don't want it later it leaves a yuck scar, if I Knew that at 15 when I got it I might of thought twice.
I'm 39 now and it would be the one I wish I never got.
I still love my nose piercing, and that's the one my parents were more worried about 😅

@hollygrail101 I was the other way round, I still absolutely love my belly piercing and had it 20 years ago. But my nose I have had 3 times now in 15 years as I keep changing my mind and don’t like it, then I decide I want it done again a few years later. 🫣

@hollygrail101 I'm exactly the same as you. 16 years later I love my nose and on a whim last week got the other side done while out shopping with my friend lol. But my belly button was taken out within a year cos of infections and the scar is horrible.

I had my insides come out with mine and had to have it burned off. Was good for a few years then got pregnant and took it out now have a have a horrible weird looking scar. Depending on their age I’d say to think about it and who would see it to make it worthwhile as mine caught a lot on my trousers and had to unhook it before getting up

I had mine done at 17. I'm now 32. It got infected very easily, I think because I only had baths and not showers. It came out within the first year. I 100% looked after it right I had lots of piercings back then. It's left a scar all these years. It's still got a little bump inside the scar on mine.
I am a bigger girl and was back then too, so don't know it was a part of it.
I'd probably be hesitant to allow my daughter to have hers done if she asked while I still had to sign for it.

Had mine done 14 years ago and it was fine. Just clean it regular. I don't wear mine often now at 33 but I can still put a bar in if I want. Had zero issues with it. Just my own bodies sensitivity to anything but gold jewellery.
Ignore my jelly belly but that's the "scar" I have x

I had mine done at around 15/16 and the top ball went inside and I had to sit in a+e and they pulled it out, then the hole was too big so I just had to let it heal and 10 years later there is still a scar

Everyone is different, I have had mine done for over 20 years and it's never come out. I didn't even need to remove it during pregnancy. It's pretty easy to keep clean, just the same as ears. Basic cleanliness. never caught on jeans etc. My daughter got hers done at 16 and she never had an issue either, she just wore leggings for a couple of days in the worry of catching it but it was fine. Its the only piercing I have really liked and not removed x

I had mine done 20 years ago. I found it annoyed me when wearing certain pants or jeans.
I eventually took it out a few years later and even today the hole is till there. Closed up in the inside but both openings are visible still. It's been out over 15 years now
