Ring Bought on Etsy Turns Out to Be Fake - Seller Refusing Refund, What Are My Options?

It’s really hard to advise you without knowing how much you paid for said ring.
Seller doesn’t have to accept a return as you’ve resized it.
Get a second opinion, how do you know the jeweller hasn’t changed the stones?
It’s literally word against word here. You’re believing the jeweller and not the maker.
Sadly there are many, many people out there scamming small businesses, so if this seller is genuine then it will be a concern of theirs.
(Not saying you’re scamming them of course, just that it happens more than you think)
If you like the ring, and it doesn’t turn your finger green then keep it 🤷🏻‍♀️

@randomnameseventyeleven she's not suggesting the jeweller would tell her they'd changed the stones. It is of course unlikely as they wouldn't know if the OP has taken some very clear pictures of it that may show signs of tampering, so while not impossible, certainly risky.

@joe67 ring isn't yet resized as the jeweller tested it first before doing anything and since hasn't resized it. It was around £80 as was on sale but currently on Etsy for 157. I think I just have to suck this one up - lesson learned unfortunately!

We bought a second hand engagement ring from an antiques shop (I’m not into expensive diamonds etc). The shop owner told us it wasn’t hallmarked (it’s white gold) as depending on its origins not all jewellery is hallmarked. If you like the ring just accept it for what it is….. I wouldn’t bother pursuing anything x

Small claims court definitely. You will need to take all of your evidence with you to prove your case. Videos, paperwork, reports from jewellery expert etc

It’s really sad to hear this and read all the negative comments about Etsy. It used to be the place to shop for quality handmade items and it’s now becoming saturated with fake and mass produced goods from china and effectively no better than Wish!! 😩
I’m a jeweller and it really p***es me off the amount of people selling crap quality (and sometimes dangerous!) jewellery on the internet
On the flip side I do know a lot of very talented, skilled jewellers who sell on Etsy and only use genuine gemstones and hallmark their work.
I hope you get some compensation for it, have you tried contacting Etsy direct rather than the seller?

@tsue yes, unfortunately Etsy weren't much help and neither were PayPal due to the timeframe. Lesson learned the hard way - always check things straight away! 😂
