Off-the-Beaten-Path Vacation Ideas: Hidden Gems and Unique Destinations

I know a couple of people who’ve been to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan recently. Off the beaten path, inexpensive and definitely not your typical holiday.

Fly to Naples and go see Pompeii. Not unusual, per se, but there’s always cheap flights to Naples, and the train stops right outside Pompeii so lots of options for accom.

Switzerland-it’s stunning in the summer and you are still able to ski if you wanted to on the mountains. I’ve been 3 times now in the summer months and it’s the most beautiful non beachy place I’ve ever been to.
I took my 15 year old son for the first time this year and he absolutely loved every min of it and now only ever wants to go here every summer …highly recommend. 🇨🇭

@talwinstark Switzerland is more reasonable than you think. All depends on what you like to eat -me and my son are vegetarian so our meals would come in cheaper than non veg-but even still it’s reasonable. Only pricy things are the high end good like watches which they are are known for

@talwinstark I’m sorry but I have to say Switzerland is extremely expensive! My brother lives there and so we go a lot. I guess it depends on budget (we aren’t on the breadline by any means 🤣) but it’s a pricey holiday!

@talwinstark Main Adult meals are on average 25 -30 swiss francs which is around 23 -26 Pound. We also found attractions / paying to get into places is expensive . Transport too - you can get a swiss pass if you are going to use transport a lot which will save you some money. Most things are generally more expensive, it isn't like going to spain/greece where most things are cheaper but it is a beautiful place, very clean, good facilities everywhere and didn't feel crazy busy !
