Off-the-Beaten-Path Vacation Ideas: Hidden Gems and Unique Destinations

@talwinstark We stayed in Jura (France) which is a lot cheaper but were able to do day trips into Switzerland which is beautiful but so pricey to eat! We loved Jura and would happily go back

The most expensive part of getting to non tourist places is the travel. Head to a main tourist destination, they are the cheapest for main routes then train, fly, bus or drive away from that area.

We just had a wonderful holiday at Hof Van Saksen in the Netherlands. So much for kids to do of all ages. Similar to centre parks but 100x better and much cheaper. We took the ferry and drove. Would highly recommend. We booked through @kurozadou who were great at answering all our questions and helping with travel options x

Bulgaria is great for actually exploring some unusual areas , there’s a great resort called Albena which is very green and pretty , there is so many places you can travel too and explore and the most popular day trips are :
Cape Kaliakra
The Botanical Garden in Balchik
“Baltata” Nature Park with the river flowing directly into the sea.
Eco-park “Geranea
Nessebar which is a UNESCO heritage site - my mum and dad stayed in this resort last month and said it was beautiful!
Aladzha Monastery
Varna City Tour
There is also a jeep safari and you can get boat hire trips from there too.
Bulgaria is a great option for securing a very reasonably priced holiday with the option to add on lots of great excursions if you want them. There are some shorter holidays from some UK airports too so you don’t have to do the typical 7 nights.
I’m a travel agent (not selling or promoting) but I’ve noticed when I’ve been pricing it for customers that there was some different durations available depending on your airports x

@anonymous162900 nessebar is very people traffic heavy. I'm in sunny beach atm and have had a few days to nessebar which has been swarming with people. Not a complaint, just not what OP is asking for.
Also, I wouldn't come back to sunny beach again due to the volume (& behaviour) of tourists which is a shame as bulgaria is beautiful.

@caudal I absolutely agree with all of your points I’m a travel agent so I know a lot about the region about the resorts, that was why I recommended Albena , as a whole different type of location , and although Nessebar is very busy I definitely think it is worth a visit. But yes I would never recommend sunny beach to this customer, not after what she is describing she is looking for 🙂
Enjoy the rest of your holiday x
