Experiences with MOHS Surgery for BCC: What to Expect and How to Prepare

Bless you. Mohs is really good at removing the cancer. However the surgery itself is a bit scary. As in your awake and have local anaesthetic. Which is a bit sore. Mine was deeper than they thought & larger so I ended up with a lot of skin taken & a forehead flap. It's over 10 years ago. I do have scarring. Vitamin E capsules are great as you can use straight away. ( Don't swallow, literally break on to the skin & lightly massage in) they did take skin from the corner near my eye & it was scary. If you're allowed too, listen to music or a podcast. I could hear everything they were doing & had to talk about anything else to them.( Or I'd freak out). Good luck. Hope it goes well. 🥰

@jennymorgan feel free to pm me, if you need advice/ someone to listen. I'm fine now been cancer free for years. Very lucky. But I know it's scary & a sore process especially when it's on your face. It definitely left it's mark on me. 🥰❤️

I had it same place and had a skin graft. They took the skin from the side of my face near my ear. There is visible scarring but better it’s out x

@jennymorgan hi hun I had this during lock down , the issue I had is because of covid I had to wait longer than I should of and it had grown , mine was on the side of my nose at the top , they did the operation to remove it and went to do a biopsy on it to find they hadn’t removed it all the biopsy only took 45 mins so they started again but had to go down to the bone so I ended up having a skin graft from under my eye , yes it was horrific at the time as I had 46 stitches and looked like I had done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson BUT you can not notice it now unless I say it to someone , there is a scar under my eye but they did a bloody good job !!
Please don’t panic , I have another piece on the opposite side and that is awaiting an appointment to have it removed xx

@dad83 Mike Tyson!🤣🙈
I am glad everything went well for you, better out then inside!
Hopefully this time would be easier, knowing already what to expect!
Fingers crossed everything will be alright!🥰🤞

I had the same removed right in the corner of my eye. They said it could affect my tear duct but luckily hadn’t. They removed it all and I had a skin graft from my other eyelid. You literally can’t see either of the scars now. It was a weird sensation being awake having it done but still not too bad. I’m sure you will be fine. X

I had one on my neck. Here is my scar. I have 2 more moles I keep questioning but keep being told they are fine. Huge anxiety as this one was 2 years of going back to the doctors before they removed it and found out it was BCC

@jennymorgan I'm going back on Tuesday I think it's been 3 or 4 years for this one. They are not bleeding but my gutt tells me these are the same. BCC is slow growing so I have no idea how long I had the other one before it started bleeding. But I do not what the same again. They had to cut deep last time my scar is quiet big and painful still
