Experiences with MOHS Surgery for BCC: What to Expect and How to Prepare

I had a mole removed in 2011 that turned out to be melanoma, luckily all removed with WLE.. I’ve had 2 more removed one in situ and one pre cancerous in the years since..

I've had about 12 BCC's removed in a short space of time from my back and chest. I've now also had my gallbladder removed. Gallbladder bile breaks up fat and fat carries fat soluble vitamins A, K, E and D around your body. So if GB not working properly leaves you open to things like this. You need A especially for healthy skin and immune system... so there is sometimes an underlying cause. In my case the quantity of BCC possibly linked to GB problems. I've not had any further BCC since. Bodies are amazing things. I've been told to supplement with B3 and I also supplement now with A, K, E and D.

I have one that went crusty about 3 yrs ago. Gp said nothing to worry about. Just use high factor cream. It's gone crusty again. Should I be concerned?

i had this exactly where u have it I got rid of it with apple cider vinegar on a cotton bud every day for a week and it’s gone. You try it Good luck

i had mohs surgery in guys hospital at easter. I thought I may not have known I had anything except I became allergic to my glasses. they had to go in 3 times to ensure all was gone. the worst was the top up of the local. Mine turned out to be fairly big. The surgeon cut around my nose to sew up the hole. Got a check up in november.

I had basal cell on my face last year after discovering it whilst on holiday. Thank goodness it was caught early and treated very quickly. Sunscreen is a must even in the winter. Stay protected guys!

Just recovering from mine the surgery was done back in January and thankfully now have the all clear! Its healing so well now and the plastisc surgeons team were incredible. I shared my story too as it may save a life. Good luck with your journey xxx

@jennymorgan you will get through this. Mine had been there eight years and my anxiety was through the roof as to how much it had or hadnt spread. Thankfully they got everything in the first attempt. Wishing you all the luck in the world xxx

@wdjd101 thank you!🤗
Did you used something pre-op, like a special shower gel or scrub?🤔
My dermatologist said I will receive a prescription a month before to use it to preparare the skin.

@jennymorgan nothing for me. Literally got an unexpected call the week before to say they had a slot available and in i went. Mine was a similar area to yours too. I hope your wait isnt too long xx

@jennymorgan i feel your pain. I got mine in October and was scheduled for 3-4 months as a priority. I did call in between as i hadnt heard from them and then all of a sudden got the call. If yoh havent had a date maybe call to see if they can tell you where about you are on the list. Hopefully that might kick start things for you. Xxx

Sorry two more tips whilst i remember. When you feel comfortable doing so massage the area after your op gently as it will help break down the internal stiches more and create a less lumpy look to your scar. Also my friend who works with a plastic surgeon suggested using kelo-cote which will help also. Honestly 4 months on and mine has healed so well x
