Experiences with MOHS Surgery for BCC: What to Expect and How to Prepare

@jennymorgan thank you. And thank you for sharing your story as we definitely need to raise awareness of this so that people do get things checked out and be persistent if they’re at all concerned. It’s reassuring reading so many of the comments here from people who have been successfully treated and given the all clear.

@txthomas I agree, we need to be more aware and raise more awareness! And if just one person is going to be checked after reading this post, I would be more than happy!
Also you are right, I feel more confident about my future after reading all this comments, and most likely I am not the only one!🙂

Thankyou for sharing the awareness, as a non sun worshipper, I still managed to get get skin cancer on my nose, they think from just walking the dog and generally being outside alot, I now cover my face in suncream all year round xx

This is no a joke !People, please put attention,my husband has a tiny little mole on his face ,it was tiny. He’s absolutely ignored what I was saying but finally he went to doctor and diagnosed with melanoma.Because he went t”for checking to private clinic his appointment went quickly. After surgery when mole was removed few months later his neck became full of melanoma so he had removed most of it and now he will start immunotherapy. What’s gonna happen later I have no idea.I have stressed more than him.Sorry for my writing and please take care .😢❤️

I have had several moles off. The worst one was a melanoma on my calf that went almost 2.5cm deep and 6cm diameter needed a skin graft. looks like a shark bite 15years later.

Hey I had mohs surgery a few years ago to remove quite a large skin cancer tumor from my face. I won’t lie it was quite a stressful surgery as we had no idea until they started how big the tumor was. I was looked after very well and the worst bit I waiting between surgeries while they checked the results to see what else needed to be removed. It was an anxious time. Sadly my skin graft planned for the next day couldnt happen as the tumor was larger than we realized. I had been going to the docs for around 9 years before they took me seriously so it had been slow growing for a looooong time! My advice would be plan for it not to go to plan as I really struggled with this. I had it all planned in my head and when it didn’t go to plan I really struggled with that. Anyone who is worried please please please keep going to your doctor and make them listen. I was not taken seriously as I was so young at the time. Good luck you will be fine. I promise it will all be ok in the end x

I had bcc on the side of my face started small and I thought it would go and heal but didn’t had mine removed a month ago and it is healing well .. it was confirmed as bcc after removal and I just have to wait and see if I getting anymore.. hope yours all goes well xx

My husband has BCC’s and is currently waiting to have 8 removed from his scalp and torso. We’ve been together 13 yrs and he’s probably had 10 removed in that time and also has some before we met. Nasty little things but they are treatable x

The good thing about a basal cell carcinoma is that they are localised & don’t spread like other cancers. Both myself & my husband have had them, mine on my chest & his on his back. His was treated just with a very aggressive cream but I had surgery to remove mine. It’s a few years now & all healed, no problems. Good luck with your treatment.
