Experiences with MOHS Surgery for BCC: What to Expect and How to Prepare

I have this on my right breast, I’m sure years ago it used to be darker in colour. A few years ago it was rubbing on my work top and became quite red & itchy. But it’s got paler in colour but you can definitely feel it there. I’ve always been a little apprehensive of it. But feel stupid just ringing the doctors for it, seeing as I can barely get an appointment anyway! Xx

My husband is covered in moles on his back..
One looked dodgy so off we went to doc..and transferred to hospital..
mole was fine but others that looked fine were not.. had 4 removed and 2 of them were stage 2.
All went well and they removed everything but left with big scares on back.
Not a issue as better then cancer..
He now wheres T-shirts in hot weather and swimming pools.
Please get checked even if u think is fine xx

I’ve just had one removed from my nose, not MOHS, they cut it out, as the wait for MOHS was much longer. They don’t seem overly worried about BCC’s but I’m awaiting the biopsy results!

This is my scar from a BCC 5 years ago. It was really small but was deeper then it looked. My spot was a classic BCC. It would itch, bleed, heal and then itch again.

I had a bcc removed from exactly the same place 7 years ago. They’ll take the lesion with a small margin around it and then check the margins are cancer free. If not you’ll need to get a bit more removed until the margins are clear. I was in and out in an hour, no pain and it healed brilliantly, I have no scar.

This post has encouraged me to book a drs apt. I have a ‘spot’ also near my eye, that I did think was just a spot but bled a lot. I guess I wasn’t too worried as it’s not a mole. But the pic you have shared has made me think twice as it’s similar to the second photo 😕 worried now cuz I’ve had this spot thing for years 😐

I had suspected bcc about 14 years ago. They literally just cut it all out in one go BUT I barely have a scar. It's literally just a tiny fine line that only really I can see, even without makeup, and has been that way for a long long time even though I was told I'd have a scar that I wouldn't be able to conceal. Turned out it wasn't bcc in the end when they analysed it, it was a trichoepithelioma. So I just wanted to reassure you about scarring as, although it isn't the same procedure it sounds like it has come a long way since I had mine and mine turned out well anyway!

I am shocked the GP failed to address it seriously in the first place!!… sorry, after this reaction… the surgery is quite simple… localised… you may feel a bit sore but nothing major. My mother just had one few months ago- it was quite deep already (because she was in denial against my advise!) and all is healed after this time, no concerns, just keep observing changes in any moles!…

Ive got a raised red mark on my back, originally thought it was a insect bite but its been months now and hasnt gone, goes through fazes of being really itchy like a bite. Feel daft going to the gp over it because i just dont know what it is… its not a mole i dont think and i dont think its been there forever

My husband had one removed from the side of his nose. I’m not going to lie they had to go quite deep and they did a skin graft from behind his ear. He needed reconstructive surgery inside the nose too as the nostril collapsed. I hope you find a really good plastic surgeon!

I had mohs surgery on face for a bcc and barely have a scar now , i also had a bcc on my rib and had it cut away and the scar is awful so mohs surgery definitely better x

Does anyone know if this mole is normal or not? It wasn’t scabby before, not itchy/sore or anything. Just noticed it now has a scabby top? Thanks
