Christmas Spending & the True Spirit of the Season 🎄

I’ve never understood why people ask what others spend, it’s up to the individual what they spend, is it like to have bragging rights I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ that someone can spend more than someone else can. My son always knows that Santa only brings one small gift and that i will also be getting him gifts.

I do not give a fart what others spend on their kids or what others think of my spending (I'm on minimum wage so no guesses there) as each family is completely different. It's so silly that people have opinions on how other families operate.

I honestly don't remember the bigger presents my parents got me. I remember sooty handprints on the walls that Father Christmas left, everyone unwrapping gifts, sitting having Christmas Dinner which my Nana always came round for and my Dad falling asleep on the settee after it 😅

Christmas for me is about putting the tree up,playing Christmas music,Christmas films etc.we buy our boys what we can afford but for us as a family it's never bn about the presents.

And this is why santa brings 1 present for each child (that 1 gift is not massive as im aware other children don't get big things) and rest is what mum and dad and rest of the family sends to santa to be delivered Christmas day. Im not having my kid saying santa got xyz when another child may not be so lucky as ive been that kid where i didnt get much. I dont think I've got much longer when it comes to believing but when the time is right ill explain st nicolas story and that know he knows that we become santa but to keep the magic alive for the younger ones who still belive so its top secret x

@sometroll we do this. We’ve have times where Christmas has been a right struggle. We’re in a better position now (not rich but we’re managing). Santa brings one or two presents and the rest dad works hard for.
Each to their own but this is our preference. I know our kids would be more than happy with a few presents and a good day with family 🥰

@dovescry84 we do the same they write their santa list with 2-3,items which ain't expensive as they know santa got alot to give. then rest is from us. they get what they asked for within reason and depending on cost no point getting too much tat that they ain't gonna use/play with. but everyone's different. I don't see point in posting how much u gt kids as long as kids are happy my kids could get one gift and they still would be happy with that.they know that things are expensive too they enjoy mostly spending time with the family tbh

@r1pp3r the things ours have said lately is I can’t wait to play games and have family round. That’s the stuff they remember. Some people get far too hung up on how much and the cost of presents. And if they do get something over the top it wouldn’t upset anyone because it was from us and not Santa. It’s a winner all round for this house anyway xxx

@dovescry84 yes I agree this is how it should be, not how much is everyone spending or if that child as 1 or 10 presents. Xmas can be stressful anyway so just do what makes ur family happy. it should be a magical time( maybe for younger ones) and spending time together ( as it's not often all families can get together often) xx

@sometroll yeah mine gets 1 from santa cause I can't afford loads and I don't want her to feel like she's been bad compared to others. She's been a very good child this year. We've had a rough year and made it through thanks to her.

@jacknow999 aawww thanks, I've been really lucky this year and can finally say I'm looking forward to it, been many years where I've been disheartened as ive struggled most years tbh. Hope you all have an amazing time xxxx

@sometroll santa brings all the presents in my house but only one is from him and the rest are from family. (He's like the original amazon 🤣🤣) thats how I grew up so that's how I've done it with my step as well

@sometroll santa brings all the gifts here , by the time the kids go back to school they've forgot what they've had anyway . Also what kids that still believe in santa ask who bought the gifts ? So they would still feel bad if someone had a ps5 and they had a book and a couple of cheap gifts , no matter who bought it
