Christmas Spending & the True Spirit of the Season 🎄

Truth is, no one cares. Most, like me, just simply don't have even a slight spike in pulse when being told what Joe Bloggs is spending on their kids for Christmas. Least of all this year with all going on.
I tell you who does care, though:
The people who are struggling and feel bad;
People who have lost or are losing people including children.
You're right: the amount people spend doesn't matter. But it is utterly classless to write about it anywhere.

If you spend £100 or £10,000 it doesn’t matter.
Spend whatever you’re comfortable with.
Don’t be jealous/feel bad if someone can spend more than you. That’s life, people will always be better off than you.

Well said, it’s a really stressful time for many, and nothing to do with anyone else how much you choose to or can afford to spend x

Some years I’ve spent £50 each.
Some years I’ve spent £300 each.
End result is the same.
I get to see my beautiful children’s faces light up when they know santas been. I get to lounge around all day in a lovely safe warm house and cook lovely food, and spend quality time with them because I work such long hours all year to provide for them.
You never remember the cost, the amount or the extravagance
You remember how it made you feel ❤️

@swanny i always feel the guilt! "Is there enough there do we need to get more?" But its more about the price on one present than how many is there x

My husband worked Christmas for years, either Christmas eve till 6am Christmas day, or all Christmas day, so he always missed some part of the day. Last year was his first Christmas at home for the whole day, this was far better than any present and the children loved this more than anything.

@candi44 we just made the best of it. You have to. Thank god he could take video calls so he watched them open their presents.
Was so nice having the whole day together and boxing day too.

@cherokeetribegirl what does your hubby do if you dont mind me asking ? My partner only works about 4-5 hours on christmas day though cant imagine how hard it is for you though for a full day on christmas. Is your hubby with you guys this christmas day? X

@candi44 he used to be security so the building had to have someone in it at all times. So Christmas day was 6am till 6pm (we used to be naughty and take a buffet in at 12 and spend an hour or so there with him).
He was made redundant so gets it off now. So last year the children loved it especially on our 13 year old girl. Nice not having to tell them quiet dad's in bed as well. X

@cherokeetribegirl awwww bless yous man!!💔 that broke me with dad in bed part though😢 im glad that he has christmas with you guys but not glad he made redundant but at the same time happy that you guys have family time with year 🥰 x

@rubysbaby my eldest has ADHD, she made this incredible Christmas cake at school which she made her dad wait till Christmas day to cut it. So after dinner we all had a slice and we all said it was the best cake ever. That was her highlight of the day. Something so simple but it meant alot. Xx

@cherokeetribegirl my husband was in the marines and not always home for Christmas, so we just moved the date, I am blessed with 3 amazing children and now 10 awesome grandchildren, they are life's most precious gifts 💚

Iv done christmas's where iv spent far too much, last yr i did one where it was cheaper but got kids exactly what they asked for, guess what they preferred that christmas out of all the onee they can remember 😊

Completely agree. You ask a child next Christmas what they got the year before & they won’t be able to name most of the gifts. I have 4 children & they write a short list of the things they really want & I make sure to get them. They’ve had years where family has bought them so much & they’ve not played with it all & I’ve ended up donating it.

We don't spend alot either and a few yrs ago decided we would start a silly Christmas present and pick what we want to eat, last yr we had our 15yr old daughters home made chicken curry (her own recipe). Our kids earn for what they want all yr round so come Xmas there isn't really anything they want so silly presents it is, think a whoopee cushion will be on the list this yr. We have 4 kids so £100 spent on each of them and then money for the January sales xxx
