I have 8 children aged 14 to 5 weeks old, o expect all my kids to keep their own spaces tidy (tidy not clean, I do the cleaning part) they all have an evening job on a rota (wipe table, sweep dining room and kitchen, wash up, dry up, tidy living room, wipe sides in kitchen, tidy entrance hall) this helps loads with them being independent, learning responsibilities, respect and sets them up for life. My eldest has just started to do her own washing (under supervision) then while they are at school I wash morning pots, sort all the babies things, hoover the whole house, wipe sides/tables, do a load of washing (sometimes ill prep dinner) clean bathroom. We leave Saturday free of cleaning, and also half of sunday, if I'm feeling tiered or just need some me time, I'll skip a day and just tidy and hoover, same some evenings. I think the key is to involve the kids and just keep on top of it (also have a huge declutter! Helped me loads to get rid of things we didn't need/use) xx
