We don't have breakables on the tree and just try and make sure it's sturdy enough to not fall over
4 cats here and I've found it impossible to keep them out...
Also added a puppy this year who has already found baubles interesting so ours isn't up yet
My cats are a nightmare my old boy doesnt touch the tree anymore but the younger ones was literally in it last year... so this year my tree is up and lights are on but im putting it off and very reluctant to actually decorate it lol and this year we have kittens too lol
lol spot the kitten. This was last year but I have two new kittens this year as well and I haven’t put my tree up yet because I’m dreading it being destroyed
Just keep telling her no... and squirt some water at them if they persist .....they get to learn NO don't leave them in the room on their own for any length of time.....
My cats have left my tree alone, so I didn’t need to worry!!!! They are only 7 months old, and it is full of sparkly, fluffy things that they normally love, but they have been very well behaved.
A stern No or just show her the water spray bottle and she soon moves. We only got her last Nov at 12 weeks but she didn't really bother last year, she was quite timid when we first got her. This is her now, was contemplating if to knock the advent calenders on the floor again
My cats used to go crazy for climbing the tree, but this year they don’t seem as bothered. The only difference we have is that this year all our cuddly Christmas toys are around the bottom of the tree. Not sure if that’s what’s stopping them?
Our 7 year old black moggy has only ever been interested in playing with the baubles at the bottom of the tree so I put some cheaper dangly ones there for her to play with. She’s happy with that. X
I squint water at mine and say no whenever she shows interest in the tree. She's still pulled off the beads (which I've now removed) and a few baubles but are easily put back on. Shes not been as bad as I thought she would be though
My Russian blue is the same lol
Just have to keep telling her no .
If its any consolation, she's just turned 3 and has at least progressed from not sitting in the tree, just stealing baubles x
@reallyneedhelp yes I think a new tree will be on the list for next year. My other cat has never bothered but this little one is mischief personified xx
My kitten was an absolute ballache last year. I ended up having a naked tree that looked like it'd been on a ring with Mike tyson, despite spraying the tree with a concoction of citrus essential oil.
I read somewhere on this page that somebody chased their cat around the house with the Christmas tree before decorating, to put fear into the cat. I think I may just consider this this year
But something tells me that with 5 little kids, she isn't scared of anything!!
