Getting a Dyspraxia Assessment for SEN Kids Through GP

I asked the hospital OT for a Dyspraxia referral, did wait about 8 months though. Good luck xxx ps make sure when he has the assessment that you back up what your saying. Poor coordination, falls over nothing, poor hand writing, awkward running or walking gait, and so on xxx

My son didn't get to see the OT as I was told its just part of his autism even though he ticked the boxes for dyspraxia, they just wouldn't see him 😕

My son has DCD and we got referred to paediatrician but only got diagnosed by the neurologist at Sheffield children’s hospital 3 years later.

My daughter is 12 she has autism. She had a O.T assessment and they believed she had dyspraxia, I emailed their report to her G.P and they added the diagnosis to her medical file x

My son is autistic and has been referred to the hospital OT for an "MOT" by his clinical psychologist. We didn't go through school OT as he wouldn't engage if it was at school.

An OT should be able to write a report and assess for dyspraxia or DCD. This can then be officially written up by medical professional! The report is enough for an EHCP though as it will have recommendations

My daughter is coming up 10 only got verbal dyspraxia diagnosis 2 years ago. Her school got a psychologist to review her and that’s how we got our diagnosis

We got our assessment through the school they had to apply but she got diagnosed with proprioception not dyspraxia she also has slow processing disorder, sensory processing disorder and visual stress. She has overall past the dyslexia test but fails the visual part.

I did BUT once you’ve got an autism diagnosis it’s really hard to get a dyspraxia diagnosis because they put absolutely everything down to autism.

@shirl I got a dyspraxia diagnosis a few back we was thinking asd but after loads of tests ect my son got his diagnosis his 17 now still clumsy still can’t hold cutlery properly always falls ect

Can the OT not refer to paediatrician? Or provide information so GP can arrange?
EHCP shouldn't need ammunition per se and goes off need, if OT and school provide details in what support is needed xx
