Confused About Airport Liquid Rules: Why All the Different Guidelines and Exceptions?

Totally depends on airport. We flew from Manchester and had more than one bag (I asked whilst in the queue and was told that was fine). On our return home we had 2 one.litre bottles of water and an unopened bottle of diet coke we was thinking about binning but asked if we could take them through and we did, no issue

I forgot to put my sure roll on in the bag. They pulled me & searched my cabin case & took it out for testing, then he pulled out my tin of coffee & interrogated me, I felt like a Mexican drug lord 🥴

Coffee was also used to mask dr*g smells and try trick sniffer dogs. It didnt really work well because dogs are better than that, but coffee is a red flag for customs 😂

@malachithelion I’d thought about that. I always take kenco on holiday as I don’t like the Turkish coffee, I usually put it my big case in the hold though. I do take a new sealed 1 then leave what’s left in the room or give it away. I wouldn’t cope without my mug of caffeine on the balcony when I get up 😎

It is because back in the day there was a terrorist plot to bring down an aircraft using 2 liquids mixed together on board. The limits are to ensure a person cannot bring enough liquid on board to cause an explosion. They are slowly bringing in scanners to detect these liquids without the need for the 100ml limit and clear plastic bags etc

@bobo_mcpherson I can't believe how long ago it was now. I remember the chaos when it was first introduced. I would have sworn I had my children with me - obviously not as they weren't even born in 2006! 😂

@bobo_mcpherson the plot was to bring down multiple airliners over the atlantic and they were going to use liquids and a camera flash was going to be the trigger - i was on holiday about to fly back from Tenerife when that story broke 😳 There's an episode of a documentary on Netflix about it..pretty scary...never ceases to amaze me that people get annoyed about processes which are put in place for their own safety
