Choosing the Right Nintendo Switch for Twins – Game Copies and Model Comparison

I did this for my kids a few years ago... they shared the games so I didn't have to buy them twice now we are starting to download and I'm confused as heck so can't help with that I'm sorry x

@amulya when you download, if you add the other child’s Nintendo switch account to the other switch. They can share the games downloaded but they can’t play at the same game at the same time 🙂 x

If you have a very account they have good discount codes..buy 1 and get an extra set of joy cons.
They can connect it to a TV so they can play together

My two boys have one each, both have different games so they swap them round with each other and if they both want to play the same game at the same time they link it up to the TV and play together that way 😊

Jumping in on this - we're looking at getting a second switch so they can have their own islands for animal crossing 🙈 would we need 2 cartridges for that or will it just save progress on the switch and work with whoever has the game card in?

@john0987 yeah individual profile but will be saved to the switch or sd card if one is inserted not the cartridge like the old games - so you can share the same cartridge between profiles without having to buy separate if you don’t play at the same time x

@john0987 same here 😂 my 2 share, I just bought 2 controllers and I only really game once there in bed so it’s simple - they only game I ever bought 2 of was Pokémon 😅 me and my son always wnat the opposite but it works well as each game has its own exclusives that we can help each other with x

@goobergirl66 I have the solution for game sharing on two consoles and only one digital game purchase!
Not sure why everyone says you can’t?
I don’t know if it works on more than one switch as only ever done it on two.
You can actually play the game on both switches with one account and one digital game, at the same time… providing the game doesn’t need online to play e.g you couldn’t play online on mario together
You have the main primary account on one switch that has all the games But make sure it’s in aeroplane mode/not on the wifi or internet
Then you put that account also onto the other switch and log in, this one can be online, you can then log into that account and play the games the other switch has bought and only need to buy the game once but it has to be the digital one

If they are playing mostly in handheld mode it’s worth having the oled, if they are playing mostly docked it makes no difference.
There is a way for them to share digital games and I’ll try to explain best I can. Once they both have a switch each, they’ll need two Nintendo accounts. You’ll need to set the home account for each on the other persons switch. Doing this they will be able to play games from the others account on their own profiles on each console. Ordinarily if you try to play a digital game from a different profile on someone else’s switch it won’t allow you and will bring up a message telling you to buy the software for you to play it. Doing it this way bypasses that allowing both of them to play games from each others accounts meaning you only need one copy of the game. Hope this helps 😊

Don’t bother with getting 2 Nintendo switch,
I have 3 children who have consoles.
One has an Xbox , 2 have Nintendo switches, I have a ps5 and ps4.
The ones with Nintendo switches can’t play the same games at the same time. You have to order on both consoles. This includes putting both accounts onto one.
PlayStation allows you to share all games across all consoles. Regarding the account the bought the games is the main account on all consoles.
If you get a Nintendo switch, just get one that you can connect to the tv and an extra set of joy cons.
The best multiplayer games for switch are
Mario kart
Mario party
Super Mario bros
Just dance
Monkey ball
Carnival
Rayman
Sports
(There may be more , but these are my kids favourites ages 9,9&7) xxx

My kids shared their first Switch, which was a pain to police, we eventually bought a second and we did have to get certain games twice but they have been a great tool to use to manage behaviour as neither liked the use being withdrawn for bad behaviour. Some games they loved playing linked like Minecraft and Animal crossing. I understand its an expense as do they so they. They tend to get games for Christmas and birthday or they save money and get one themselves now but since we bought them they've never really played with anything else.

They will 100% need a copy each. Especially if it’s Pokémon!
One wanted sword, one wanted shield.
The other then wanted scarlet, the other wanted violet
