Choosing the Right Nintendo Switch for Twins – Game Copies and Model Comparison

We got the OLED for the screen size mainly and the storage is a bonus too. We are new to it so can’t help with the game sharing etc sorry

My boys 9 n 6 have a switch each the main big 1 that hooks to the telly both have same games as it was easyer no complaints they do have a couple that ain't the same n they just swop the chips around if they want to play my eldest likes minecraft n pokemon but my middle boy love sonic n crash bandit cute they both have Mario but diffrent 1s n swop with each other xx we bro if ht a couple of cheap 1s from smyths n argos didnt realise they were the code 1s but when tried to activate then they didnt work so wasted money xx downloaded some offline for free but all needed accounts and they was a nightmare to accept

My 3 kids have the Nintendo switch lites they can play with each other and they can play on their own it has its own screen so no fighting over the tv and very handy for if you go on holiday or in the car etc as you can cast of your phone for them to play the only thing is that you will have to get the cartridges for each console or you can download straight onto it from the store we got 3 different colours and the accessories for it so each kids knew which is which x

If you set the nintendo account up right as parent and 3 child accounts any games you buy digitaly on the parent account should be accessible on both child accounts

U will need separate games for each of them if they want to play together and some games may require a subscription to Nintendo online to let them play together online. An memory card for each is a must too as the storage gets used up really easily x

A little trick we learnt with two switches - you have a "primary" console and a "secondary" console. You can play offline with your primary console, and technically only on one game at a time on either switch. However, if you download the games on the primary console and then turn off its WiFi, there's nothing stopping you playing the same game on both simultaneously. You lose multiplayer stuff but worth knowing!

I have 8 yo twins. We ended up buying them different consoles rather than the same. They prefer to play together on the tv anyway. Still buy them individual games for each. They’re on their iPads more.
They loved the Lego games on switch.

We have 6 people in our house we all have our own switches yes of course they will want to play at same time
Nintendo always have an online sale bit that constantly updates sadly yes we have multiple copies of same game cartridges

We have the red and blue Oled one and it is great, the screen is much better than the non oled one.
You can buy only one game card but they will not play the same game in the same time or you can check the Nintendo store as, sometimes, they have great deals up to 80% off on games.

Definitely 2 of each game they want to play. We made the mistake of only getting one, they were great at first then they wanted to play at the same time so we got a second hand 2nd switch but then the arguments about who played what game started 🙄.
Now they seem to watch youtube videos of how to play but don't actually play on them anymore 🤦‍♀️.

Surely they don’t need one each the whole point with the switch is they can play together (they can each have their own profile) but yes if you buy two separate switches they would need two copies of games if they want to play at the same time, they could share games but they then can’t play it at the same time

These are your options -
a) you buy one switch they can both play multiplayer games o. (when connected to the TV) with individual controllers using one game.
b) you disconnect from the TV they play switch as a handheld and take turns to play individually using same said game.
c) you buy x2 switch lites which they each play but that’s double the money and double the games as each would have their own - came connect to the TV

TBH with you, I would just get them a PS or an Xbox if you’re wanting them to share, would be much easier for them to play games together I would say.

Personally I'd bypass the switch, and go for a PS5 or an Xbox series S or X. Out of all our kids consoles/gaming pc the Xbox S gets used the most! It's better for 2 kids sharing imo. You can get the game pass cheaply on cd keys and they then get all the games that's on the pass to play for free, get 2 controllers.
