Choosing the Right Nintendo Switch for Twins – Game Copies and Model Comparison

They only need 2 of the same game if they are going to play at the same time, in which case for a lot of games they can play 2 player. Otherwise only 1 of each game and they can take it in turns

I have twins and when they were younger the oled ones weren’t out at the time so they have the original ones and they are fine
There are some games that they like to play together there are other games we can play as a family if you have the controllers as you can hook it up to the TV
There are games that you can play 2 player with one console
So you could get around sharing
I also looked at second hand games from CEX and other second hand shops
They are great for long journeys they always take them on holiday etc
Expensive business twins lol 😂

My twins are 11, they have the old neon one for about 3 years and one copy of games. Only thing I'd recommend is get 2 controllers then on some games they can play together but realistically something that 'big' they just have to share.

We've still got a wii and wii u that my 7 year old plays on, you can get games for about £5. He loves the lego ones. I might get him (and me!) an xbox at some point, but ashe likes the older games, I don't really see the point at the moment. He occasionally uses the switch but just sits hunched over and definitely won't share it.

Me and my daughter have the lites my son has the oled. If you want to play the same game at the same time you’ll need 2 copies of the same game.
Some games have 2 player or multi player options you can play those with 1 copy of the game and on one switch (but not on the lite).
We tend to have one copy and have them in the cupboard downstairs and just share them and then play multi player on the tv with my sons switch. Honestly there isn’t much difference really on the oled and normal switch

I much prefer my oled, but my son has had a lite and now my old original and it's great for him.
We download content we both want on a family account so we can both play it. Otherwise the cards need to be in the console.

I have twins and another 2 weens so just went for the switch and got the extra controlers and hand grips so we could all play once every 2 or 3 months or whenever we could we would pull a game from the list everyone wanted and download it onto it the first few months we only had 4 player games

I'd get one for now and encourage them to play together on the TV. Then you don't need oled and can buy an extra game or 2. So many good multiplayer games. And fun for all not just kids. Only this evening we had a good time playing super Mario Bros 2 deluxe with 4 players. For non multiplayer games you'd have to have some sort of timeshare to keep it fair. Or take turns depending on the game.

Switches are great family consoles, my daughter got one when they first come out and I ended up getting myself one too. Games like Minecraft it’s better to have a copy each, but other games you could get away with having just one copy. Don’t pay the full Nintendo store price though as there is always sales happening and you can get pre owned cartridge games from shops like cex and game. If you get two eventually and they want to play online games together you’ll have to get a switch online membership, it’s not too expensive yearly and comes with access to loads of old Nintendo games you can play from all the previous Nintendo consoles

Have you not considered buying the switch with the docking station and an additional two controllers? That way they can play together and your saving on a console and only one game rather than two... Just make sure you buy multilayer games 😂 as a twin this is what we did when we was younger and we was happy as Larry.... Whoever he is

Don't download games unless they are on sale cheap! We have 2 switches with the same user profiles on each. You register one or the other as your primary console. Say son A has switch 1 as primary: he can purchase a download and anyone registered on switch 1 can play it, he can also play it on switch 2 but should son B attempt to play on switch 2 he can't. Son B has switch 2 as his primary: he can purchase a download and anyone registered on switch 2 can play it, he can also play it on switch 1 but should son A attempt to play on switch 1 he can't. In this case you need to buy 2 games and downloads cannot be sold on when they get bored.
We have loads of games but only have 2 copies of a couple as most can be played in multiple on a single console. It's only when they want to play the same game separately at the same time or together on separate consoles that you would need two copies and not all games are equipped to do this. Also to play together on different consoles some games use local play, others use online which you can only do if you pay for Nintendo online.
If you do this make sure you buy the family option (you may need to set up your own account). Single accounts on an adults profile can be upgraded to family at a later date, this cannot be done on a child's account (as I found out the hard way) and it is much more expensive to pay for Nintendo online separately.
Lastly shop around. If you do buy downloads you can buy codes from online retailers for both online games and Nintendo online to redeem on the online store which are often cheaper.
