Weekend Evening Activities for Families: What Works for You?

We often do the kids club at the cinema. It’s £2.75 a ticket. It’s on every Saturday and Sunday am and then every day in the school holidays.
Friday evening after school in movie night and fakeaway/takeaway and my girls (3&5) get to stay up a bit later than usual. It makes our weekend seem longer when we do something on a Friday evening x

Weekends moring/afternoon is football and rugby !! We all chill out in the evening , kids on xbox and adults enjoying watching TV with wine! RELAX.

In the 90s social clubs were family clubs and we would all go to the disco on a Saturday night, there would be sweets and games machines and everyone would be happy. Nothing like that round by me at all but definitely some great memories

@msbiblethumper we go to our local sports and social club of a weekend evening. It has a green space. We meet other families there. Children play football, darts or pool. We get to spend time with our friends and so do they. They often have live music, bingo, seasonal parties. If we go early enough the local football team are playing or they have aunt Sally. Kids love going . Great social event for all.

You’re just looking at the right places. No way you as a family be bored those nights.
I know from experience that your average family spend those evenings, catching up on their hectic week.

Not really much to do in our local area that won’t cost £50+ for an hour, so we chill, play games, do Lego, colouring in, arts and craft, homework, we are lucky to live over the road from a park so when it’s dry we use that a lot, take dogs for a walk and to play ball, movies night, cooking, dance, all my kids do swim lessons so that’s always a good fun trip out as they all go free and as I’m also a member I also go free so the fun swims are great and tiers everyone out x

By the time I’m finished work on a Friday I’m done. On a Saturday, I do all the housework, my husband works and our youngest daughter finishes her homework. We have a takeaway and a drink in the house. After a full week of work, school and after school sports. We’re ready to relax and do nowt. Sunday is spent washing and relaxing to get ready for the week ahead. We do things occasionally depending on the weather and time of year. We love our weekends. X

Normally go for a hot choc either straight from school on a Fri or on a sat. Fri nights, nice dinner and the normally time for bed for my little one. Saturday, shops for a few bits or cinema or maybe movie night at home with snacky dinner on the sofa and wine for mummy. We will also do some reading, arts and crafts and playing, bake some cakes maybe😋

Our local leisure centre does a play and swim on a Friday evening. An hour of soft play an hour of swimming. That's about the only thing in our area. No youth clubs etc.
We sometimes take them swimming on a Sunday.
Most weekends we chill, play uno, sometimes build lego, watch a movie or sport event, walk the dog. Nothing remotely exciting! Occasionally we have a birthday party to attend, rare occasion we'll visit someone (this weekend we're visiting one of my previous students as its her birthday)
If nothing going on a quiet weekend looks like: cleaning, washing, ironing for me.
Kids will game or have their friends over

Deaf club on a sat to learn BSL that's usually until lunch time and then we either do a mini shopping trip or go swimming. Come home and play games/film night. Same Sunday middle has swimming lessons click and collect on groceries go pick up for another shop the things that were cheaper come home and chill. We watch YouTube videos on art club, play games, bake. It varies as what we are in the mood for.

Friday night we try get the kids to bed early as possible so we can have a steak/wine and actually speak to each other… doesn’t happen Mon-Thurs. Saturday is a nice tea (fakeaway) and all the blankets and candles on for Strictly. Sunday is usually spend with friends in the afternoon then an early night - hair wash / ironing etc. x

We have film nights with the older kids at the weekend on one of the two nights. We often don't plan anything as our youngest is 3 so don't do much going out in the evening.

We usually cook a nice dinner and then watch a film together or play a game, maybe invite some friends over for dinner. Last weekend we made a firepit in the garden. Nothing super exciting but we try and spend the time hanging out together.

If you’re looking at going on a Fri/sat night, most working men’s club type places are open to children and sometimes have live bands and pool tables etc
We tend to just have movie nights at home x
