Weekend Evening Activities for Families: What Works for You?

I am missing something I think but am fifty fifty parenting , I suppose I am lucky that all my son wants to do is sit with me and watch doctor who . And he isn’t at numerous parties or clubs either . As others have said sometimes they just want to chill I try and take him to national trusts , swim gym play dates ect but chilling is just fine

We try to stick to weekday clubs so that weekends are for family time… we’re a member of a local trades and labour club, so often pop in on a Friday for a beer or two.. kids take drawing, cards, tablets and see their friends there too.. sometimes all the parents get them a McDonald’s so they can all eat a dinner together..
Saturdays and Sundays often consist of a kids party, but otherwise we are usually up and out for a dog walk, cinema trips, crafting and then possibly dinner out somewhere in the evening. Or we might have movie night and a takeaway. Sundays again are wooded walks or an afternoon swim.
Some weekends my husband will take them to the cinema or soft play when I’ve got morning photoshoots, or I’ll get finished early enough that we can all go together. We’re really lucky that our local cinema is £4.50 a ticket so it’s always a cheaper few hours out!
Unfortunately it isn’t cheap to do trips out now, but we do love doing things like the gruffalo or superworm trails that are free (except maybe a bit of petrol / parking money), or just getting out in the fresh air, splashing in puddles!

My girls are 9 and 13 and don't do any weekend clubs and never have, and wer now past the age of loads of parties. they often like to have a chill day at weekends, my youngest likes to do spa days, playing and eating snacks. Fridays we often go to the beach and have fish and chips. When the weather's not soo good we put the seats down and all sit in the back (range rover so plenty of space) that's a firm favourite. My eldest will often go out with friends into the local town. We live in a council estate so loads of kids play out the back of where we live and they play out there.
My other half is a petrol head so Sunday mornings we usually go to a car cafe nearby and while he's looking at cars me and the girls take over the sofas and have hot choc and cake.
Next weekend we are going to a bounce place, pizza hut and Xmas Market.
