Turning Annoyances into Appreciations: A New Perspective Challenge

Ahh that's just lovely & think we can only take a lesson from this, and take a step back from the busyness of life and be grateful for what we have 🥰

Totally get this. I love the sound of a sewing machine and a tumble dryer. The first meant I knew exactly where my mum was in the house. Exactly what chair she’d be sat in and usually she would be making something for me or my sister. The tumble dryer (and the musty damp smell that you get) reminds me of autum Sunday nights. Dad would be polishing our shoes and mum frantically trying to get uniform ready for the next day. My kids say they love the sound of the food mixer as I used to bake when they had all gone to bed. ❤️

I've got tears running down my face reading this. You've hit the nail on the head. In a really difficult week internationally, we can only control our small, small worlds and be grateful for everything we have. If we could all put ourselves in the shoes of children we would live in a happier, more peaceful world. Your words have moved me tonight, thank you xx

This reminds me, I love the sound of dishes clanking in the kitchen. Reminds me of being home with my mum. It’s a safety and comfort thing ❤ 🥹

kind of different, but we live in a Rural area, but over the road from an industrial unit where there is a large factory.
it works through the night. we've lived there a long time now, and I'm one of those people that isn't into complete silence. I like a background noise.
and the hum of the factory is quite relaxing when I'm trying to sleep. it's just a soft, low, rumbling hum. it's not jarring or unpleasant, and while when we first moved here, you noticed it, now it's almost like playing white noise to get to sleep.

My partner snoring drives me insane but at least it means he’s breathing but I still want to hold a pillow over his face to make it stop
The snoring not the breathing

@punchukis this last week my husbands snoring has been so annoying and he keeps laying on his back with arms above his head like a silver back gorilla!!!!🙄 with my face in his pits! I have taken to covering his head with the quilt all tucked in around his head until he wakes up and turns over !!! I told him if he dreams he is eating marshmallows don't swallow because it will be the quilt 😅🤣

I always get the best naps when the F1 is on in the background 👌 family full of mechanics & it reminds me of being a kid at my grandparents house with all my aunts, uncles & cousins nearby 🥰

I burst into tears while on the train pregnant with my daughter one day, as there was a little old lady sitting there knitting with metal needles, like what my nan used to use. She had dementia at that point and didn't really know who I was at that point, but that soft click of the needles brought her back to me so strongly. My Pop also used to shuffle coins in his pockets, just loose change that he always had, that sound always makes me smile.

I can’t stand the tv on in our house 🫣🤣. The tv will always be off especially through the day .I hate anything that produces sound on .
I think it’s because my children are very talkative and active so there is always talking and moving going on around the house I can’t cope with more sound. Plus I’m not a heavy watcher . I struggle just to sit and focus in one thing .
I also hate a messy kitchen and floors oh my good floors 🤣. I’m always cleaning them I drive them mad at home but I’m sure what I do isn’t normal behaviour 😂😂.
But my boys are my life ❤️❤️. Honestly the past week I can’t imagine them being in situations like it. We all slept together last night in my bed I felt so safe . I have already told them none of them are moving out they are staying with us forever.

Haha I need to show this to my NT hubby and daughter who struggle to grasp why me my son and you gest daughter (all ADHD) NEEED to have constant sound in the background when we do things.
I will sit at my sewing machine with the TV on, and he'll tell me I can't possibly do both, and I'll detail the whole plot on the TV whilst whipping up a shirt 😂😂😂😂
However when Im going to sleep, I need SILENCE 😂😂😂
