Hi biggest group!
👋

My husband & I are in the last stages of purchasing our first new home.
It needs a LOT of TLC, I mean like every room. New flooring, new kitchen/bathroom & redecorating etc throughout. I would absolutely LOVE any tips/tricks to get through this! Anything at all! Bathrooms to banisters, kitchen to under-stair storage and dining rooms. Anything!
Might seem super silly and vague but I'm a little overwhelmed and would just so love some inspo to focus my thoughts!
😅
Thank you for reading
💛

Start with a Bedroom, make It as nice as possible 😉.. You will have somewhere to retreat to and will need your sleep 🥱. I have renovated several houses ... Good luck 🍀🍀

@woofiedog The bedroom can be made nice with a lick of paint and a nice cheap carpet , check out charity shops for some nice temporary bedding... Having somewhere to retreat to is a must.. Long term the bedroom will be done too your choice 😄.. Kitchen is full on .. It is worth it. Xx

@broraf I loooove charity shops so no arguments here! I will definitely appreciate having a space to retire to once I'm done with tears of both joy and stress 😂

@woofiedog Look at curtains as well ❤️‍🩹 save your good ones for the finish, old sheets are a good idea for when decorating, love a charity shop 😀. I found some Beautiful Tiffany lights and lamps ... Have fun 😁😁

@broraf ah yes! Fab idea, especially because I think we'll favour blinds so cheap curtains as a middle-man is a great idea 😁we love tiffany lamps! We have a couple xx

Don't touch anything for a month! How you think you will use the space, is often different to how you actually use it. You'll end up shuffling furniture and changing things until you find what's right. Nothing worse than decorating and making things beautiful to then move everything and realise you've got pictures behind wardrobes, rugs which don't fit, furniture, lamps you don't need etc etc

@inhisserenity ah that's such good advice! I'll bare that in mind - we're having a completely fresh start taking very little form what we have now to the new place, so I think I'll try to be super minimalist so I have less to move/change

@inhisserenity this is great advice! We moved last October and have changed our minds so much already! My mum told me this when I moved and I was like sure! Now I know she was so right! C

Personally I would buy trade white and white out every room then live in it and see how the light hits each one differently before decorating. When decorating think about what the surfaces will be like to clean before deciding.

@eliyahu777 yes I love this! Will make creating a blank canvas soooo much easier, and I'm sure it'll make the world of difference to how we imagine each space being furnished/accessorised too!
Thank you for the heads up with surfaces, I know some people do get full kitchens that are then a nightmare to keep streak/mark-free etc. Really appreciate your help! 😊

We're in the same position. I've been advised to start upstairs and work down so that mess isn't being trapped through freshly decorated living room and kitchen which made sense so we are starting with bedrooms first, then bathroom. Agree with clean walls and white everything first before commiting to themes
