Random thought..
Ideas for unusual holiday destinations?
Sometimes I feel like cost comes from demand so when I can eventually afford to go somewhere I was thinking I might look into little unknown places, or countries some wouldn't usually consider for a visit?
Where have you been to?
Ideally things to see/do. Maybe short trips like 3-5 days, transport links (sorry, we aren't hikers!) and ideally no extreme temperatures lol.

Rochester in UK... is a really beautiful town..has a castle... a cathedral... some interesting houses you can visit ... a few museums ..... and isn't far by train or car to Chatham..where there are docks to see . ... I spent a weekend longer would be better ..

Germany, is so overlooked as a holiday destination, same as Austria. Both beautiful countries, full of history and culture. Vienna especially is a must see city. There is a museum quarter !!They are cheaper if you don’t travel out Fri and back Mon, a lot of people go for hen/stag dos on a weekend. During the week you can get £10 flights. Salzburg is ok, they have the sound of music tour. Berlin is not a fave of mine either (very busy city), Hamburg is ok they have a place called Miniataur wonderland and my now 10 yo and his dad still witter about when we are going back again 😂 wasn’t my cup of tea. In Vienna you can also go to hotel Sacher, go on an evening though to avoid the queues, it’s the only place you can get Sachertorte, which is the best cake ever !! People also sell tickets during the day for shows on an evening, opera, classical, orchestra, very nice to experience the especially in such a beautiful city and you have the hoppy on buses.

Interailing and rail holidays with families also check out this page, loads of ideas and it’s all through Europe by train.

@spokken2 my mum is from Osnabrück so we love Germany! I'd love to visit the lesser known places!
I have been looking at Austria, funnily enough so your comment is great, thank you 🥰

@zbigge1031 I would give Salzburg a lot more credit, I love Salzburg and Vienna. We’ve just been to Berlin and loved it because we were so interested in the history. Munich a lovely and a great spot for visiting Neuschwanstein Castle from

@spokken2 I came to say similar! We flew into Munich last summer holidays for under £100 each and did airbnbs in Bavaria. Absolutely beautiful in the mountains but still warm enough to swim in lakes and lidos. Can’t recommend it enough! X

@doulos7 if you book a hostel, then a child can not share with strangers, you get hostel prices and the room to yourself …. People don’t always realise this, saves a fortune on accommodation. Just check it’s not an adult only hostel when booking.
