A Mum's Worst Nightmare on the Tube: Lost Child and Grateful Thanks

Omg this happened to me and my (fully grown adult) friend in New York! I’ll never forget the look on @janetpotter1s face! The thought of it being my kid makes me feel sick 😩

Poor mamma. So glad most people will help in London because they wouldn't want it to happen to their child. Big hug.

This happened to me on holiday in France when I was little! There was a group of teenage boys on the train and they just laughed at me 🤦🏻‍♀️ I obviously didn’t speak any French either! I got off at the next stop and luckily my family found me! Think it was probably worse for my mum than me though!

Had almost the same issue with my son. He got off the train first and I got caught with the buggy trying to get off. He was on the platform and I almost got stuck on the train. I managed to get off at the last second with the buggy. That was 7 years ago and still scares me now

I live in London and it happened to me when my son was small. So now we never ever run for the train. We only get in if we all can. And they know to get off at the next stop and wait. However this goes to show that most people are lovely and would help in this situation ❤️

Omg this once happened to me - my daughter ran back in the Carrie to get her coat that she’d left on the seat and the doors closed!! It happened so quickly but i was able to say wait for me at next station and a kind man (could have been so much worse) waited with her. Heart stopping moment

Omg that's so traumatising, I got in the lift in selfridges when I was about 5 and the doors closed. I remember being so scared. And being so relieved when the doors opened and my mum was there! She must have run super fast up the stairs!! 😂

Happened to my dad sister an myself about 43yrs ago ,,my dad n i were on train n sister was in platform ,,dad pulled the chain to stop train an was fined 500£ an was told he shouldn’tve done that it wasnt an emergency an he coulda got off at next station n got next train back for her 😂😂😂🤦🏼‍♀️,,changed days tho ,,so glad someone stepped in an looked after ur child 🌻💖🌻

This is my biggest fear when going to London!! I once said to my partner in Piccadilly, ‘where’s Livvy?’ He replied….. ‘kez! She’s right there!’ …. Holding my hand 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣xx

I did a lot of travelling on the tube with my kids and always said that if we get separated, get off at the next stop and wait on a bench , I will find you or if you are on the platform wait on a bench and I will come back. It was a sort of rule so we all knew what to do. I always made sure they were in right in front of me at all times , eg not to the side of me getting jostled about, which seem to help, getting on and off. I still say wait at the next station now to anybody that I’m travelling with !

I remember worrying about this as a child. We often caught the tube and I always worried I’d be left whilst my mum got my younger brother, who was in a pushchair, on or off the train. Now as a parent, I write my mobile number on my daughter’s arm and tell her if we get separated she’s not to move from the platform and I will come to her.
I’m so glad there were kind people to look out for your daughter today.

I had taken my 2 kids to Disney on Ice with group of friends and their kids. Fantastic show all super excited get to the lift and my 3 year old son gets in and the door shuts with us all on the outside. I just froze until my friend shouted get to the stairs. Ive never run down stairs so fast, got to the lift just as the loft door opened with a totally unfazed 3 year old. Will always be remember that day. @carlayerta

My granddaughter did the same on the tube. My daughter was hysterical but a lady took her to the guard and kept her there until they caught up. Scary

We went to France and our daughter got off the train to let people off! It was so scary. She did make it back on but it still gives me shudders when I think about it. X
