A Mum's Worst Nightmare on the Tube: Lost Child and Grateful Thanks

@foutz564 ratio wise there will always be someone on the train, because you’ll do it adult first then kids then adult then more kids. Always some adults and some kids either on train or on platform. Super stressful but I imagine less stressful than taking your kids out on your own as a lone adult. You cant be everywhere at once - Poor lady! I couldn’t take a whole class out on my own 😂 I’d have a breakdown.

@foutz564 this is shocking! risk assessments for this sort of thing should have been made and always a member of staff on the train before kids, and at the same time and then an adult at the back to get on last 😳 i would be fuming if this happened with my children if they were out with the school

@jimfit she slipped back on past the last teacher who was stood counting at the door to run back to get her bag that she had left on the seat 🙈 luckily there was a nice lady who waited with her at the next stop 🫣

This almost happened to us last year! I was holding my 7 yrs olds hand. She jumped on the train and the doors shut on my shoulder as I was getting on! I didn't let go of her and my husband was able to prize the doors open so we could all get on. It left us all shaken that's for sure and we stuck together like glue afterwards!

I always tell the kids, if this happens get off at the next station and stand next to the station guard if there is one. If not just wait there for me and talk to no one. To be fair though I’ve got a dab hand at us all just getting on at the same time. I’m paranoid at this as this happened to me when I was a kid but we were going on the train from Gatwick north to Gatwick south terminal on the train - scared the shot out of me 😂

So glad I didn't see this yesterday after taking my 7yr old although I had my mum with me so one of us went on the tube first and the other behind my LG. Glad it also had a lovely outcome with a family taking her under their wing.

We live here and you will only do it once…. Never ever ever let go of hands on tube platforms once the train pulls in. It can suddenly get super busy and they get pushed on unintentionally and allsorts. And we remind everybody as we leave that if this happens you get off at the next platform and DO NOT MOVE…. We will be on the next train. Imagine that was the longest 5 mins of your life ever 😂

This happened to me in Paris it was awful i refused to let his hand go and my arm was stuck ( he was only 4 i think at the time) and everyone just watched while we screamed! Eventually we go the doors to open and folk started helping iv never been so terrified x

It happened to me at 12 years old holiday in Singapore. The people there were also so lovely. I was scared as a child but now I’m a parent I fully appreciate how terrified my parents would be been

This happened to us on a tram in Amsterdam- but the other way round- we reached our stop, 6 year old stepped off and people crowded on before we could join him. Lots of people saw and were shouting at the conductor but he just got really cross with us (at least he looked/sounded cross - I don't know a word of Dutch and was obviously panicked!). 6 year old was kept safe by an elderly gentleman. Forever grateful.
