A Mum's Worst Nightmare on the Tube: Lost Child and Grateful Thanks

Oh my gosh I am literally just listening to this book where the exact same happened and it has scared the life out of me! You must have been so scared x

Our 7yr old daughter did this in Japan! Thankfully we’d showed them YouTube vids on how busy stations were before we left and we had the “go 1 station and get off and wait” plan. Was perfect. Always make about what to do when lost plans with your kids! So helpful in cases like this! 🙂

I did this when I was around that age 🤦‍♀️ everyone prised the doors open but it took a few people as they were shut to leave. Mum and dad asked what I would have done and I didn't have a clue lol. They would have wanted me off at the next stops but in my head I was just going to stay on. Thank god it didn't get moving!
I'm sure that was really scary for you!

I’ve seen it so many times With that and buses. So I started to always make sure I’m first on and first off and what I do is one leg on the bus/train, one leg on the platform/road… so My body stops the doors from shutting until both girls off. When people start pushing I raise my voice saying “I beg you don’t push my kids” or “there are kids here” always makes people stop or slow down when rushing to get on or off public transport.
Can only imagine the fright it gave you. Hopefully you find the said family 💖

This happened to me last year with my child. Luckily she's a teen and had a phone. But it traumatised me because had I of had my younger 3 I don't know what I or them would have done. Naturally we usher our children on first and when them doors close that's it.
I've now spoken with my younger ones that if that ever happened they get off at the next stop, stay together and don't move. It's quite frightening x

I actually have nightmares about this and I don't even go to London. Honestly this is terrifying I feel sick just reading your post. I'm so pleased a nice family got her to you safe and sound. I see you say you don't drink, I don't really either. Maybe Indulge in a big tub of ice cream xx

I daren’t take mine to a station by myself as always worried one will fall off the platform in front of a train or something! (Several young ones). I just stick to the car!

My worst nightmare! Put an apple tag on them too. Wristbands with numbers on them. Depending how old give them a spare phone on journeys if they dont already have one.

This happened to my mum years ago when she took my 8 year old brother to see Wembley stadium . Luckily a chap had seen what had happened and looked after my brother !! Still haunts her now. So pleased all was ok!! 🥰

This happened to me and my husband I know its not as bad as a child getting left but I panicked lol had both phones in my bag so couldn't contact him eventually we found each other but it is still quite scarey as an adult getting separated when your not used to the tubes .

My plan for this, when travelling, is always go back to where we last saw each other.
It’s worked numerous times over the years in different situations.
