Recording Swimming for GCSE PE - Solutions and Alternatives

Thank you all so much for your time in replying. I am on it and have contacted various places for hire. Having read how many of you have been able to film, I do think our pool is overly strict.
I have a dilemma with my son needing his swimming recorded for gcse PE. Unfortunately, after weeks of enquiries, with some of his instructors saying yes, then the next saying they'd check the rules, I have an official no.
Have any other parents found a solution to this problem? Maybe hiring a pool etc?
I wouldn't mind but his college place is dependent on his grades in PE and he has put the work in...
TIA.

@moodymoose77 no, because it’s a sport the child has chosen to do for their gcse as they do it outside of school. Sports are offered in school but students are able to offer something different if they participate outside of school. PE teacher here - it’s difficult, but possible!

Normally for GCSE PE you need video evidence of them carrying out the sport so they can prove that they reach the given grade as potentially the examiner may ask to see how the PE staff have given the grade.

@heathensguide exactly this. A percentage of each group gets sent for moderation to ensure that grades are being given accurately. So they have to be filmed as any student can be selected.

Same issue with son doing water polo for PE. From my understanding most of the video evidence needs to be during competition anyway. Filming at competition tends to be easier because often somewhere in the terms and conditions of the competition they signed up to it often says filming may happen at this event.

May be a pain, but could you arrange for a PE teacher from school to come to a session, if necessary pay them a couple of hours? They will already have all the necessary security checks etc.

I volunteer as a swim coach at our local swim club and we often have children doing this. We just do it right at the end of the session when there is no one else in the pool and film them for their parents

I did all the recording myself, wasn’t allowed any other swimmers in the recording otherwise it was an automatic ungraded, my sons swimming club was amazing and gave him a separate lane so I could record

My niece has done this...she has been filmed at a couple of recent competitions where filming has been permitted and during training sessions her and another swimmer have filmed each other and the coach gave them a lane to them selves for a short period for a few sessions

What if you contacted the sports facility where pool is and ask if you could film if you came at opening time. Thinking might be only a few people there.
