Maximize Your Finances: How to Plan for a Successful Financial Year Ahead

The bit in between Christmas and new year is amazing for looking at your finances.
Especially if you have been paid early.
Think about how you want your money to look next year.
Sit down and write everything down.
How much money you have coming in, how much you have going out, on what days, how much.
Write down your debts, starting with the lowest to the highest. Write down the interest rates.
Look at your bank account. And work out how much money you have to last you until next pay day.
It may take a couple of hours but I can promise you it will help you to feel more in control.
Open a bank account where you can set up pots.
Starling or Monzo are great for this. And open a plum account and set up some saving rules.
Take a look at something to help you to save and improve your credit rating. Loqbox is brilliant for this.
Start writing down what you spend money on.
Analyse your spending. This will help you to know where your money is going.
Set some goals. What are you looking to achieve? Do you want to save for a holiday? Or a deposit?
By using this time to focus on some clear money objectives you can go into next year feeling more in control and having a plan.
Could you be cash stuffing? Discount hunting? Using a money planner?
Think… what can I do to make my money go further?
If you want something, think about how you are going to get it!
And stop telling yourself you are bad with money.
You’re not! Xx

Honestly the only thing I do between Christmas and NY is drink and forget what day of the week it is all week. 😂

I always buy a tin that you can't open at this time of year and chuck change and odd notes in to save for the following year. It helps greatly.
The supermarkets often do great deals on cupboard stock this time of year stock up on cleaning products and tinned foods for tighter times 💖

Ive started budgeting the last few years, I do a weekly cash budget and some savings, I save what I don't spend. I meal plan every sunday night and sort my finances out for the week ahead. I have saved a lot which has helped with unexpected expenses such as car repairs etc.

@gardenvariety I meal prep every 6 weeks, I do chicken/beef stir fry, chicken curry, stuffed pork/sausage/beef, sausage rolls, ham&cheese swirls, stuffed chicken, chicken skewers. I usually freeze in individual portions as My son as a very restricted diet and some days I have 2 meals to do.

I started keeping a tally of everything i was spending in Jan this year. Its the best thing I did. By keeping tabs of every penny i had going out, I was able to save money for something I have wanted for many years and today I get to buy it 🤩
