If you have a person (child or adult) with special or additional needs** who likes the cinema, make sure you apply for a CEA Card. You can use the CEA Card in all participating cinemas in the UK and it means the person's accompanying carer can go free.
It only takes a few minutes to apply for online (or you can send your application through by post). The card costs £6 which more than pays for itself as it's obviously less than a single cinema ticket.
There's still time to make the application and visit a cinema during half term week.
I ordered my SEND person's CEA card very easily - took about 7 minutes online, and it would have been even less time if I'd used my phone instead of my laptop.
I just cropped and edited a photo I already had in my google drive, downloaded it to my laptop, and uploaded that for the CEA card.
I also screenshot the first page and a half of an EHCP form which was an email attachment. Again, I downloaded it to my laptop, and uploaded it to the form. You can use a DLA letter and other letters as proof as well (list on the CEA site). I used the EHCP as I wasn't home and already had the form on my phone (so I screen shot it and uploaded to my Google drive).
I had previously spoken to the staff at the CEA and they confirmed what other forms of proof of disability were appropriate, and I used the contact form to confirm this after applying and paying for the card. Phone them if you want more clarification.
Don't forget to order asap!
**To apply, the person requiring assistance must be 5 years of age or older and be in receipt of one of the following:
Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
Attendance Allowance (AA)
Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
Adult / Child Disability Payment (ADP / CDP in Scotland)
Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
Or hold:
Severely Sight Impaired Registration (formerly Registered Blind)
Sight Impaired Registration (formerly Partially Sighted)
