Considering a Move: What’s Ipswich Really Like for Families? 🌟

Evening all.
Hoping you can help us. We are considering moving away from Herts to buy a bigger house for our family of 6. With interest rates rising as they are and the kids costing a fortune, we really want to free up both money and time for our family. The sacrifice will be that we will be far away from our friends and family.
🥺

We have more family close to Ipswich so we are starting to look around that area. So my question to you all is, what is Ipswich really like to live? We are trying to find a lovely place to raise our family and be close to parks, shops, pubs and restaurants.
Can you recommend any other great places to live and bring up the kids in the area? Or in any area for that matter? All places considered at the moment. I would love to be close to the coast too.
Thanks in advance! Your help and advise will be very much appreciated xx

I don’t have advice relevant to Ipswich specifically, but we did a similar thing a couple of years back and it has been fantastic! It’s great fun living somewhere new and it’s fantastic having a bigger house and being away from the overcrowded and expensive south-east. Highly recommend taking the leap if your work allows it. Suffolk is a beautiful county…

There are plenty of lovely villages in Suffolk between Ipswich and Newmarket and lots of things to do. Near Bury St Edmunds is very family friendly, with good schools and lots of places to visit.

I’m in the process of waiting to exchange and moving from Herts to north wales. It’s daunting but hoping fortune favours the brave 😊

We live just outside Ipswich in kesgrave. Super family friendly place to live with good schools, parks, shops, close to the coast and access into Ipswich for other amenities. Have lived in Suffolk all my life but I think it's a great place to live.

We moved from Herts to Cambridgeshire in 2021. Now live in the little town of Godmanchester which is utterly wonderful for us and the kids. Absolutely love it here and it's the best thing we don't. Went from a tiny 2 bed to a 4 bed detached for the same price our house was worth in Herts!
